weekend in hanoi

We took advantage of a holiday weekend and booked a getaway trip to Hanoi, Vietnam. In the city, we were most impressed with the beauty of the lakes, the early risers for badminton and exercise (all ages), the no-rules traffic, the local art galleries, and of course the great croissants and coffee.

Three hours drive from Hanoi is Halong Bay and its 1969 limestone islands. We explored the Bay, islands and caves by an overnight junk boat and kayak. The spectacular scenery, worthy of a James Bond movie, is difficult to capture in pictures. Click the photo for more...

Is that Toonces the cat on the moped? This place looks so beautiful. I love the long exposure one you took of the intersection with the lights. And the colorful bridge. neato.
